CreativeMornings – Flow

October 11, 2019 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM (CDT)

Description

Hear how the art of “flow” has guided Marcey’s creativity and passion – and how it’s now impacting the community.

Yates graduated from The Conservative School of Recording Arts and Sciences in Arizona with a sound that can be described as expressive vinyl hip hop. Motivated by an urge to uplift and change the way people think or feel about themselves and possibilities, there is a strategic, yet fluid, logarithm to his concepts, production and songwriting.

In addition to his solo work, Yates is one half of the duo Dilla Kids featuring Xoboi and regularly lends his talents as an established producer to emcees searching for the ideal beat. Recently, he has played with Rakim, P.O.S, Black Milk, Freddie Gibbs, B-Real, Weezer plus more at the Maha Festival, Lincoln Calling festival, and SXSW. His band Dilla Kids recently won the 2018 OEA’s for best rap hip hop.

Culxr House in another venture founded by Marcey Yates. Culxr House is creative art / community space where artist and entrepreneurs can grow and enrich their own artistic talents and create opportunities. This community consists of visual artists, performers, sound engineers, producers, vendors, photographers, designers and videographers.

Registration opens Monday, Oct. 7 at 7 a.m.
