Behaven Kids was founded in November 2000 in Omaha, Nebraska, with a clear and forward-thinking purpose: to provide early behavioral intervention for young children who were not being served by existing programs at the time. While many local services focused on older youth, Behaven Kids was created to support children at the earliest and most critical stages of development; when timely intervention can make the greatest difference.

Originally launched as a Specialized Day Program, Behaven Kids addressed a significant gap in care by helping children build foundational behavioral, social, and emotional skills before challenges intensified or became more disruptive to their learning and development. From the beginning, the focus was on prevention, growth, and long-term success.

Over the years, Behaven Kids has continued to evolve. While the Specialized Day Program remains a cornerstone of our identity, our approach has become increasingly child-centered, family-focused, and aligned with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, strengthening outcomes for both children and caregivers.

In 2022, Behaven Kids entered a new chapter when the organization was acquired by Themis Gomes. With deep personal connections to autism through their own family experiences, the new ownership expanded Behaven Kids’ scope to better serve Nebraska’s growing need for accessible, ethical behavioral health care. This expansion included the addition of ABA therapy services and outpatient mental health therapy, allowing Behaven Kids to support children and families across a wider range of needs and developmental stages.

Today, Nebraska continues to face a shortage of accessible behavioral health and autism providers. Behaven Kids is proud to meet this challenge by maintaining ethical, high-quality practices in alignment with BACB and DHHS guidelines, collaborating closely with families, schools, and community partners. We remain committed to accessible care, including Medicaid-supported ABA services, integrated childcare with ABA, and mental health therapy for individuals and families ages 0–100.
